The Heart Behind the Brand

Hi, I’m Vernice, the creator behind Arts & Craft Mom and Mom’s Creative Closet.

This entire journey is being born out of obedience to God.

I didn’t start this because I felt ready. I started it because the Holy Spirit nudged me to create a space for my son, a space that would help him grow, express himself, and work through some of the behavioral challenges he was facing.

For days, I cried out to God, asking for direction and a strategy. During the 10 Days of Awe around Rosh Hashanah, at an outdoor tent event my niece invited me to, God answered. One afternoon during my lunch break, I was flagging alone while worship music played, and I felt a deep peace settle over me. Then came the simple instruction pressed into my heart:

“Remember the same way your mom did arts and crafts with y’all — you have to be intentional and do that with him.”

I paused.

Arts and crafts?

The very thing I enjoyed as a child… yet never imagined I’d return to. I didn’t want to become my mom, but God was showing me that what she did was more than activities. It was a ministry.

At first, I hesitated.

I felt unprepared, unsure, and overwhelmed.

But obedience doesn’t require perfection, just willingness.

So, this website, this shop, this brand, and these social media pages are my small steps of faith.

Arts & Craft Mom is more than a brand.

It’s a space where I’m learning patience, love, and intentional motherhood.

It’s where I’m letting the Holy Spirit, the Father of Fathers (Adonai), lead me as I raise my son in a world full of noise, distractions, and influences that don’t always align with His truth.

And it’s a place for other moms who may be navigating similar challenges, trying to raise children with purpose in a generation shaped by social media.

This vision also comes from my own childhood.

Growing up, my mom hosted arts-and-crafts every weekend for the kids in our neighborhood. At the time, I didn’t fully appreciate it. I wanted to run outside while everyone else wanted to run into our home for the next activity. But now I see what she created: a safe place, a creative place, even a healing place. She counseled kids, encouraged them, and gave them something many didn’t have at home.

Now I realize I’m walking in footsteps I didn’t even know were shaping me.

I’m recreating that same atmosphere my mother, Sheila, created for so many; Now I get to create this for my son, for our lineage, and for anyone who joins us.

And from that heart, Mom’s Creative Closet was born.

Every shirt in my shop has the ability to spark a conversation or open the door to sharing how good God is.

Some are one‑of‑a‑kind pieces that will never be restocked, once they’re gone, they’re gone. Others are everyday favorites available in multiple colors and sizes, including new designs for men.

My goal is simple:

To create pieces that inspire, uplift, and remind you of God’s love, purpose, and creativity.

This brand is rooted in faith, motherhood, and the joy of creating together, just like my mother did for my siblings, me, and so many other young people. As my son grows, he’ll have his own space in this journey too, because this is something we’re building as a family.

Thank you for supporting my small business, my family, and this calling.

Come join us on this journey, one step of obedience at a time.
